AI PDF Translator Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 23, 2026
AI PDF Translator is a PDF reader and translation assistant by SoftHangar. This policy explains what data the app uses and how it is handled.
Information We Collect
- Account information, such as your Apple account identifier, app user ID, and email address if Apple provides it during Sign in with Apple.
- Selected text or current page text that you choose to translate or send to Generate Page Study Pack.
- Basic request metadata needed to operate the translation service, such as language, tone, and page context.
- Operational diagnostics needed to run and secure the translation backend, credit balance service, account deletion route, and purchase delivery workflow.
Information Stored Locally
Imported PDFs, favorites, highlights, notes, ink strokes, and reader settings are stored locally on your device. Full PDF files are not uploaded to SoftHangar by the app. When you request translation or Generate Page Study Pack, the selected text or current page text needed for that request is sent to the backend. Study Pack content is only exported when you copy or share it yourself using iOS sharing controls.
How Translation Works
When you request a translation, the selected text is sent to SoftHangar's translation backend. When you request Generate Page Study Pack, the current page text is sent so the backend can create summaries and review cards. The backend verifies your signed-in session and forwards the text to a language model provider only to generate the requested translation or Study Pack. The app does not store OpenAI API keys on your device.
How We Use Information
- To authenticate your account and protect translation requests.
- To provide translation, streaming translation, vocabulary assistance, and Study Pack generation features.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
Analytics and Tracking
The native iOS app does not use advertising SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell personal information. SoftHangar may review aggregated service diagnostics, server request status, and purchase delivery status to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service. These diagnostics do not include full PDF files, local notes, local highlights, local ink strokes, or local document libraries. SoftHangar also uses first-party aggregated product interaction diagnostics to understand whether readers see Study Pack value prompts, open credit packs, complete purchases, or restore purchases. These aggregate diagnostics do not include user IDs, email addresses, device identifiers, session IDs, document names, PDF text, selected text, translated text, transaction IDs, or exact credit balances.
Purchases
AI PDF Translator uses RevenueCat to process and restore App Store consumable credit purchases. RevenueCat receives purchase identifiers, App Store transaction metadata, and the app user ID needed to deliver credits to the signed-in account. RevenueCat does not receive PDF text, translated text, file names, notes, highlights, or ink strokes from the app.
Tracking and Advertising
AI PDF Translator does not track you across apps or websites, does not sell personal information, and does not use service diagnostics for advertising personalization.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account from inside the app in Settings. Account deletion removes the authenticated account from the backend identity service. Local files and local notes can be removed from your device by deleting them in the app or uninstalling the app.
Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Translation request data is used to complete the request and for short-term operational diagnostics. Local PDF data remains on your device until you delete it.
